Using the IAS Journal Websites

Individual Members and the libraries of Institutional Members receive access to the most recent 5 years of the Journal as part of membership. Non-members may subscribe to the Journal below.

Accessing current and past issues:

  • The Journal of the Iowa Academy of Science and the Proceedings are hosted on two websites. The IAS hosts all issues published online since Volume 120 (2013) on its members/subscribers website. Issues from the most recent 5 years are hosted exclusively on this site.

  • The University of Northern Iowa hosts issues more than 5 years old on its UNI ScholarWorks website. These issues are open source. Both sites are available below.

  • Members and subscribers have access to the most recent 5 years of the Journal by logging in through the left portal. For non-members articles are available for purchase.

  • Print issues from Volumes 1 (1887) up to the most recent 5 years are available open access by clicking on the ScholarWorks portal.

The most recent 5 years available for IAS members, or by subscription or purchase.

Members and subscribers use their log-in.

Access for IAS members, subscription, or purchase.
The Journal has 3 versions; Current Issue, Available Issues, and Issue in Progress. 

1. Current Issue: This is the most recent completed issue. It is closed and no longer accepting articles. 
2. Available Issues: These are past online issues dated back to Volume 120, 2013.
3. Issue in Progress: This issue is open and still accepting articles. It is opened when its first article is published and remains open until it becomes the next Current Issue.

Contains digitized print Issues - beginning with Volume 1 (1887) excluding the most recent 5 years.

This website contains all past print issues including the Proceedings of the Iowa Academy of Science (1887 to 1987) and issues of the Journal of the Iowa Academy of Science (1988 - 2012). Journal issues beginning with 2013 are added to UNI ScholarWorks when they age 5 years.

How to use the website:

1. All volumes are open-access. Log-in not required.
2. Journals back to Volume 1 (1887) are online, excluding issues of the most recent five years.
3. Click on image to access.
