Iowa Junior Academy of Science

Call for Judges

The IJAS Science Symposium is part of the Iowa Academy of Science Annual Meeting. The conference is Iowa’s general science meeting which includes research presentations from undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and invited speakers. Middle and high school students make both oral and poster presentations in the IJAS portion of the meeting. Middle school students have the option to present in poster and oral formats or poster only. High school students present in both poster and oral sessions.

Join us and have a positive impact on Iowa's young scientists by clicking the "Volunteer to be a Judge" button below. You will be contacted by the IAS office with more details. A Judges Meeting is held between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. with both poster and oral judging scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Oral presentations are scheduled in classrooms while posters are on display from 8:30 a.m. through lunch. Awards will be presented following General Session I. See the combined schedules below for exact times and locations of events.

Volunteering does not commit you to judging - it puts us in contact with you to answer your questions. We hope you will say yes because we believe you will find judging to be a very rewarding experience but we will understand if you decide to decline the opportunity.
